To know Marci is to love her. She loves life and is always there for a friend in need. Recently, Marci has been diagnosed with Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer. Marci is self-employed. Her pain and treatments have made it difficult to work. Much lies ahead in her near future for health and treatment. The pain continues, managed with around the clock medications. Marci needs our help. Any donation will be helpful, as well as positive thoughts and prayers Thank you so much.
September, 2022:
While in Florida, Marci had chest pain, went to the ER, and 24 hours later underwent a triple bypass. While she tolerated the procedure well, a secondary concern was incidentally discovered. The surgeon reported that a nodule was noted to the left lung. CT showed a tumor on the lung with affected lymph node. Follow up was recommended. Marci was able to make it home for recovery. As suggested, Marci pursued follow up with her primary care physician, then was referred to pulmonologist.
March 2023:
PET scan unable to be done due to blood sugar levels. Referral made to endocrinologist. Second CT scan done, revealing nodules to both left and right lungs with lymph node involvement. Marci is having discomfort to left shoulder.
April-present:
Biopsy of left lung nodule to be done. At the appointment, pulmonary changes are discovered: multiple nodules to left lung, ground glass opacity, and fluid. Lymph node to left axilla is biopsied. Discomfort has increased to worsening persistent pain. Marci goes back to primary care physician to ask for something to help with pain. Test results show lymph node is positive for primary lung cancer. Marci is referred to oncologist for next day appointment, is admitted the night of appointment with Dr. Cawley for pain control. Marci spends 10 days at MMH to find pain management. During her stay, Marci undergoes more tests. Diagnosis is given of Stage 4 non-small cell lung cancer with metastasis to right lung, spine, lymph nodes, and right ribs. Radiation is delivered to left axillary lymph node in hopes of lessening the pain and weakness of the left arm. Chemo will be started in the near future.
