Marcia’s 60 For 60

Marcia (DaCosta) Bedasse is turning 60!!! 

In honor of this milestone birthday, December 7, 2020, it is her wish to give a charitable donation to the Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Child Protection Agency, LLC. We need your help! But first, a little more about the lady of the hour.

A native of Kingston Jamaica, Dr. Bedasse (Go Gators!) has been committed to public education for over 25 years. She has served as a classroom teacher, literacy coach, school administrator, district instructional specialist and associate professor. Marcia is a champion to the cause of serving literacy needs of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. Her passion for meeting the needs of marginalized communities extends beyond the field of education.  As a past president and member of the United Methodist Women, she has worked tirelessly to empower women and children whose voices have been silenced through discrimination and abuse. 

Through her work in the community, Marcia was introduced to child abuse expert, Jessica White and the Sexual Exploitation and Abuse Child Protection Agency. The agency is a faith-based organization with a global initiative to combat sexual crimes for the saving, healing and protection of children. Child abuse is a global issue, impacting the lives of millions. Sexual exploitation and abuse is of particular concern, as it is estimated 1 in 4 girls and 1 in 6 boys have experienced sexual trauma before the age of 18.  The agency works with world leaders to engage community partners through education and policy development.  Their vision is to build a united alliance against sexual exploitation and violence towards children worldwide. 
   
Marcia has embraced this vision and it is her desire to support their ongoing efforts. This is where you come in!
