Marcus and Mikaela Rydberg and Family

As many of you know, Mikaela has been fighting breast cancer for more than three years now. After initial treatment of chemotherapy, radiation and surgery, she got a brief respite. In the spring of 2022, the cancer returned in her vertebrae. She took a course of oral chemotherapy but unfortunately, the cancer did not abate. By Thanksgiving of 2022, it had entered her liver and lungs. She is still fighting, but it’s hard.

It goes without saying that this journey has been difficult for Mikaela and Marcus and for all those who love and care for them. Jonathan (8) and Miranda (5) have been troopers. But still, it’s a lot for young children to process. Marcus and Mikaela felt it important that the children begin play therapy to process the feelings triggered by Mikaela’s illness and the situation surrounding it.

We have established this Go Fund Me account to help with the costs of the children’s therapy. As is often the case, insurance covers only a portion or none at all. Jonathan and Miranda will be working with an experienced therapist at the Houston Center for Christian Counseling. The goal is for both of them to go weekly. The cost is $160 per session or $320 per week for both kids.

Cancer takes a toll on so many levels, including finances. Many of you have asked how you can help. We thought this would be a concrete way to help Marcus and Mikaela and their family in this time of struggle. We are grateful for any assistance you are moved to offer.
