Marcus’ Battle with Cancer

Most of you know Marcus and I were supposed to be on our way to Hawaii to start the next chapter in our lives, but god had other plans. We’ve spent the last few months moving out of our apartment, putting our things in storage and preparing for our move when Marcus found a lump on his neck. The lump came with extreme fatigue, drenching night sweats, joint pain, a cough and chest pain. The day after we moved out of our apartment we found out his ultrasound looked concerning. The past month has been numerous doctors appointments and Imaging. Marcus had surgery last Friday to remove his lymph nodes for pathology which results showed Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. With this diagnosis our worlds have been turned upside down and we’re not quite sure what our future brings. The next steps are more scans to find out the staging, meeting with oncology and starting chemotherapy. We know with all of the support we have from family and friends we will get through this but it will be hard. Since we moved out of our apartment we are currently staying with my mom but at some point Marcus will need his own space to heal. Getting this news is already terrifying but thinking about the financial burden this will put on our futures is as equally alarming. We thank you all so much for all your kind words and support during this difficult time. Please please see your doctor regularly and always check for any lumps or bumps. Love, Krystal and Marcus Fowler.
