Marcus Reubenstein's stand up to harassment

Attacks on freedom of speech and association continue
Throughout the past six months a number of private individuals - with whom I have not engaged publicly - have targeted me, and my associated, with false online publications. In some cases with unequivocal allegations that my work as an independent journalist is foreign state backed intimidation. These publications were made in terms that could only be taken to have been related to the strong editorial position I take on my independent website APAC News.
Such publications are not only offensive, they are entirely false and amount to accusations that I am engaged in criminal foreign interference. Presently I am considering my options in dealing with these hurtful and defamatory publications.
My position - which I have consistently maintained for a number of years - is that unsubstantiated attacks on Asian-Australians, specifically questioning their loyalty to to Australia, is a blight on society. It not only damages minority Asian communities, it weakens the fabric of our entire society. I will continue to call out racism and, where appropriate, hold the perpetrators of such actions to account.
It should be noted the publications to which I refer above were not made, nor is there any suggestion they were caused to be made, by the Respondents in Federal Court proceeding which I commenced , and subsequently settled, in October 2021.
On a positive note, I am pleased to announce a new initiative, called The Chinese-Australians Report, which will provide a detailed snapshot into the lives of 1.2 million Australians. Due for release in early 2022, it will quantify the positive contribution Chinese-Australians make to this nation.
