Marcy is Marta and Franklin's beautiful two year old daughter along with their new bundle of joy Luz! Back in October, Marcy began having issues with vomiting. Her pediatrician believed it was an allergy or stomach problem since she was meeting all the milestones. Marcy was taken to be evaluated by a gastroenterologist and also taken to the ER because she would not stop vomiting and started to lose weight. After her third ER visit on January 22nd, the day after her 2nd birthday, she was admitted for failure to thrive. On February 2nd she was scheduled for an endoscopy and an MRI. The MRI revealed that Marcy had a mass on the lower part of her brain. After a more detailed scan they were able to see that the tumor was mainly on the cerebellum and some spread to her spine. Marcy had surgery the next day on February 3rd.The neurosurgeon was able to remove a large portion of the tumor which was classified as Pilocytic Astrocytoma stage one.

Unfortunately, some of the tumor was left because it was too close to the brain tissue. During the the surgery they placed an EVD to help her drain the excess spinal fluid. The EVD was removed a week later but unfortunately she was unable to drain on her own. The doctors believed it might be the remaining tumor causing the obstruction but couldn't risk permanent damage to her spinal cord. A third surgery was need to place the EVD back in to help relieve pressure. On January 24th Marcy had an additional surgery to have a shunt put in as a more permanent solution. Marcy has a long road ahead of her consisting of neurological evaluations,  occupational and physical therapy to help her regain her strength and ability to walk again.

Franklin, Marta's husband, has not left his baby girl's side since she was admitted into the hospital more then 30 days ago. Franklin has to stay strong for himself, his wife and his children.  Due to the current health crisis and the arrival of baby Luz, Marta has been at home looking after the newborn.

We ask that you please keep Marcy, Marta, Franklin and Luz in your prayers! They need our prayers now more then ever. Though prayer is important hands and feet on the ground are just as important. This has taken a financial toll on Marcy's family. Consider contributing financially to this family as they nurture Marcy back to health. We are our brothers keeper.
