Marfa Community Darkroom

Hi! My name is Sara Button and I am raising money for a community darkroom in Marfa, TX. The location will be at my personal residence in Marfa, inside my detached garage. Ideally, beginning this Fall, people will be able to book time to use the darkroom for processing & printing. There will be options for darkroom education & instruction as well as future workshops & seminars.
Over the last 10 months of owning Marfa Film Shop , one prominent request I’ve heard has been a need for a community darkroom. My response has been “if you can find a space & funding, I can help from there.” Well, we have a space & it will be beautiful. I do need monetary assistance, though, as this project is quite costly. I’ve been working toward the idea building a personal darkroom in my garage & decided it would be best to be able to offer this to not only myself and my business, but to my community as well.
My goal is to have this darkroom up, running & ready for the community by early Fall 2022. If funding falls in to place, this could happen sooner than later. *fingers crossed*
The money from this fundraiser will cover the cost of the darkroom equipment, construction costs, chemicals & supplies.
