Margie's Village

Hi, my name is Melissa O'Brien. I've set up this Go Fund Me Page for my Bestie, Margie Babia. Not only is she my best mate, her Bestie Village is second to none. The love everyone has for this woman is beyond what I have ever experienced and she's touched so many lives with her energy.

Marg is going through an extremely tough time at the moment and it's only going to become more challenging. It's been confirmed Marg will be having a Stem Cell Transplant in October. This means chemotherapy before the transplant and months of recovery. Because of this our beloved Babia family will need some assistance from their Village and that's us. I'm teary typing this. They need us as much as we need Margie in our lives.

Please dig deep and pay it forward. I know Margie and Eric would be forever grateful. We can do this guys!! Will keep you updated on her progress. I've only put 10K in as a target but it would be amazing if we could go beyond this total.

The Go Fund Me Team have asked me to edit this so it's clear how the funds will be distributed and also my relationship to Margie needs to be explained. Our relationship has been a privilege to experience. We've always been on the end of the phone for each other. We've been through some tough personal stuff, had an amazing player/coach relationship, have an amazing coach/coach relationship and continue to have a close bond. I love my friend. Many years ago, this very keen Netballer, stalked me. Marg would train next to teams I coached, stand next to me during games and ask me many questions. Marg wanted me to watch her play so I did. She so desperately wanted to be in a team I coached. Back then Marg was a GA, GS and represented Victoria in the U/21's. Well, I watched and I don't think she sank one ball. Later Marg comes up for some feedback. Well, Marg, you shoot like shit. If you play defence I'll take you. What an amazing defender. Marg and Denise Felix (ex NZ Keeper) played the most beautiful Netball. When Marg was on we got ball. Teams I've coached in the past have a bond like no other. So many of those wonderful players are part of this Village. We will all be friends for life and we have each other's back. Netball really is a winner! Netball has created a Village and this amazing Team has Margie as our Captain.
