Mari Knutson Former Vacaville Teacher
Donation protected
My name is Cathy Dacanay. I had the pleasure of working with Mari at Elmira Elementary School many years ago. Some of you may remember her from Orchard Elementary and Alamo Elementary Schools as well. Mari touched the lives of so many Vacaville families with her infectious laugh and dedication to education.
Mari and her husband Rick, retired and shortly after Mari was diagnosed with severe vascular dementia. Rick moved them to Southern California to a facility. Unfortunately, Mari wandered off the property several times and it was too dangerous for them to remain there. They have now traveled to Tennessee where Rick has family to support him with care for Mari.
The disease has caused so many hardships for the two of them. Selling their home, being uprooted from the community they lived and worked in for years, and the medical expenses and care expenses which will only continue to multiply.
Mari recently fell and hit her head, cut her face and broke off her front tooth. Shortly after recovering she fell again and broke her hip.
Mari is now settled and recovering but will need ongoing care. Rick is so appreciative to everyone for their kind prayers and wishes for Mari. Your donations would be used for daily care and medical expenses. If you know others who may know Mari, or had her as a teacher, please share this message.
Elmira, Orchard and Alamo teaching staffs were small, but from them came so many friendships. We can reach so many people with your help. Please share. Thank you.
