Maria Cecilia M. Taar, a beloved wife, mother, and accomplished professional, passed away suddenly on Thursday, September 14, 2023, following a brief but valiant battle with stage 4 endometrial cancer. She was 49 years old.
Maria is survived by her devoted husband, Renato, and their two cherished children: Reinalein, 18 years old, and Rence, 9 years old. They all began a new chapter of their lives in Canada, having arrived in Canada in the last week of May 2023.
Maria's life was marked by resilience and dedication. With an impressive career spanning 27 years in the fast-food industry, she had a profound impact on those she worked with and served. Her journey in Canada began in 2022 when she joined A&W Kitimat as a Food Service Supervisor. Her unwavering commitment and exceptional leadership qualities were soon recognized, leading to her recent promotion to the position of Restaurant General Manager of the same restaurant.
Before her time at A&W, Maria worked for 27 years with Jollibee's, in various management capacities, demonstrating her remarkable ability to lead and inspire teams.
Under her leadership, A&W Kitimat achieved notable milestones, including the 2022 Silver Award of Excellence, the 2022 Regional Net Sales Increase, and the 2022 Double Diamond Award. Her dedication and passion for her work left an indelible mark on the organization.
Maria will be remembered for her strength, resilience, and the love she had for her family. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, determination, and unwavering love. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service to celebrate Maria's life will be on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the family's home in Kitimat at 6 PM (Pacific Time).
Additionally, friends and family are coming together to contribute funds to assist Maria's beloved husband and children in returning to the Philippines to lay her to rest close to her loved ones. Your support in this endeavor would be greatly appreciated.
