When I hear the name Maria Cornelius, I think of the following words: caring, respectful, giving, compassionate and someone that would do anything to help our Lady Vols family.
It is now time for our Lady Vols family to give back to Maria and show her how family members are always there for each other.
Maria is facing some major dental surgery with very limited help from her dental insurance (like most dental insurance, the maximum amount they pay in a year is very low). As most of you know, Maria is a breast cancer survivor. Although her treatment had positive results, it also led to other issues, such as with her teeth/jaw that now need to be addressed.
Breast cancer treatment wrecked her teeth. The dentist was able to save her top teeth and realign her front teeth, but Maria's bottom teeth have not survived the treatments. Maria has had to wait two years for the drug called Zometa to get out of her system so her jaw would be strong enough for her to receive the proper dental work for her lower jaw.
Maria will be having her first surgery in late September, followed by a second surgery 3 months later. With an insurance cap of approx. $2,000 a year, she has/will be having dental expenses way beyond that amount (she has already paid for her upper teeth repairs out of her own pocket).
As a longtime Lady Vols family member, I would like to challenge the rest of Lady Vols Nation to make a donation so we, as a family, can take care of Maria's expenses for her. She does so much for our Lady Vols program and fans, that I feel the least we can do is take care of her now.
We need Maria to be healthy, able to talk (man I love her Thursday night shows), report about our Lady Vols, and most importantly be healthy.
Please consider making a donation for Maria. She would never ask for help on her own, but she's the first to help others in need. Now it's our time! Any amount is a great amount - $1 or $1,000 - I know your donation will be made with love and much appreciated by Maria.
I set the goal for $15,000 to allow Maria to pay for her upcoming surgeries and to help cover dental expenses she's already had to pay out of her pocket.
As Pat always said, "Surround yourself with good people and good things happen." I can't think of a better person or group to surround myself with than this one.
Thank you!
