Maria Flores Funeral Fund
Donation protected
Dear friends, family and supportive community.
On July 29th, at approximately 2 am, my grandmother Maria Flores passed away at PIH Health Whittier Hospital. She had succumbed to complications from numerous strokes she had received during the week.
My grandmother was a kind, gentle and funny soul.
My grandmother and I would always joke around. Sometimes I'd tease her and say, "what did you say? Talk with your hands, not your words." She would quickly respond with (In Spanish), "HA, I would drop you so fast you wouldn't know what hit you. Don't you know I'm the one who trained Ali?" we would both laugh as she would show me her boxing moves in the air.
My grandmother was also a strong woman. She would tell us stories of her arduous journey to the U.S. and How she pulled through after being shot in her home country of Guatemala. Trying to break up an altercation when she was younger, she was left with a bullet lodged into her hip to this day.
Yet, her strength still did not waver when she survived her first stroke a year ago. She endured the pain but persevered to gain most of her mobility back.
My family was spoiled to have such a person in our household. She was our wonderful Abulewicha.
My Grandma was a devote catholic, and we want to honor her last wishes with the proper burial rites. We humbly ask for your help and hope that we can provide a funeral that my Grandmother deserves.
We know that these are challenging times and that most people are struggling as is trying to provide for themselves. We are also not ones to ask for help to avoid burdening others with our struggles, but this unfortunate event has left us scrambling to find the funds to cover the cost of my grandmother's service.
Any amount of donations will be greatly appreciated.
