Maria's Immunotherapy Treatment Fund

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

PLEASE READ!

Myself, Tea and Maria would like to thank you all very much for donating on the last campaign. Your money helped to pay towards hospital travel childcare household bills, food and some medication and gave us a temporary income due to Maria not being able to work any longer.

The funding was never going to offer a cure for Maria's condition but it did help to take the burden and stress away from us as a family to cope with the news which we could not be any more grateful for.

BIG UPDATE!

Going through all of this we have learned first hand how dreadful the NHS hospitals have been right from the start over 8 months ago when Maria was first diagnosed. Trip after trip consultant after consultant time off work the cost of travelling back and forth all to no avail only to receive the same devastating news that Surgery -Chemo - Gamma Knife - Photon Beam - Radiotherapy and being matched for the NHS experimental drugs program is not an option.

It has led us to do our own research on Marias condition and look for the answers ourselves. Through this research we have discovered there could be light at the end of the tunnel after all.

HERE IS WHERE YOU CAN HELP!

We have finally found a leading private hospital in the UK called Oncologica Uk ltd . They deal with Immunotherapy treatment. The idea of this drug is not to cure the Tumor but can help to prolong life and slow down the growth considerably. The hospital also have far superior testing facilities than the NHS experimental drugs test Maria had previously which had a negative match.

The Oncofocus® test is applicable to parotid cancer and allows them to identify precisely the right targeted therapies/immunotherapies that the patient’s tumour is likely to respond to on the basis of the DNA mutations present in the tumour.

This is called personalised medicine or precision oncology.
Targeted therapies are new drugs that specifically hit cancer cells and not the normal cells of the body. This means they can be much more effective than chemotherapy and do not have the associated severe toxic side effects such as hair loss, infections, anaemia, gut toxicity and fatigue.
Most targeted therapies are taken as an oral pill and therefore do not need hospital based infusions. We have now updated the Oncofocus® Test to enable us to match the unique mutation profile of the tumour covering 505 genes linked to 734 targeted therapies including immunotherapy. Oncofocus® is able to identify additional treatment options in 90% of patients.

The Test Request Process
The test request process is really easy and can be requested directly by the patient. Oncofocus® uses the routine pathology biopsy block that has been used to make the initial diagnosis (held at the hospital where the biopsy was taken) and the patient does not require any further tests or consultations.

The cost is £1950 and this includes both the Oncofocus® Test and the Immunofocus (PD-L1) Test.

Once the test has been done which takes 10 days, the hospital will then help us to get the treatment costs paid through the NHS by speaking to the consultants at St Georges and The Royal Marsden on our behalf.

We are eager to get Maria started on this program as her condition is worsening and it's becoming even harder now for her to cope with as she is currently not receiving any treatment from the NHS at a all.

We plead with you all to donate as much as you can and thank you all so much for your support so far.
