Mariah Green (Cancer) and Baby Liam (NICU)
Donation protected
In the early morning hours of Tuesday, Jan 14, Mariah (Besecker) Green, 28 weeks pregnant, was emergency flown out of Gunnison Valley Hospital to St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction. Initially, it was thought she was in preterm labor, however, after being examined in Grand Junction, it was determined she has Stage 2a gynecological Adenocarcinoma - cancer! As one can imagine, this was shocking news - being pregnant and having cancer, how can this happen!? After lots of consultations, invasive exams, tests, and scans (CT, MRI), biopsies, etc, with lots of consultations, it was decided that a c-section at 30 weeks was the best option for baby's growth as well as Mariah's treatment plan. Baby Liam Richard was born on Tuesday, Jan 28 at 12:43 pm weighing in at 3 lbs 9 oz, a decent size for a baby at 30 weeks (aka 10 weeks premature). The name Liam means "savior" and "strong willed warrior" and is fitting as the family is certain that Liam saved Mariah's life. Without being pregnant with him, the cancer might not have been found in time for treatment. Baby Liam will be in the NICU for a couple of months and Mariah will be going through chemo, radiation, and most likely a hysterectomy. They both are receiving excellent care in Grand Junction. Mariah will receive outpatient cancer treatments and spend her days visiting Liam in the NICU. Christian, Mariah's husband, and her parents, brothers, and friends are taking on the brunt of duties back home, in between traveling back and forth to Grand Junction visiting Liam in the NICU and assisting Mariah with treatments and healing. Mariah has a stepson Kyler (14 years old), and son Peyson (5 years old). Everyone is blessed by Liam's birth and confident the family will be reunited in full health in Gunnison in the coming months. Mariah and her family want to extend their deepest appreciation for your support, financial gifts, prayers and love! Thank you!! Note: Mariah also has a donation account set up at Wells Fargo. That account is named "Mariah Green Medical Fund." Additionally, donations can be made via Venmo to @Mariah-BeseckerGreen. We wanted to give donors other options for giving as GoFundMe charges a 2.9% transaction fee plus an additional $.30 fee for each donation.
