Mariah Harrell, daughter of Jane Harrell

Mariah Harrell, 2015 UNR Graduate and 31-year-old only child of our friend Jane lost her hard battle with Glioma H3k27M brain cancer on February 12, 2024. Mariah fought this battle that she promised to win for 6 long hard years. At 25 she vowed to defeat this monster of an illness. "Bet Me" is what she said when told this was inoperable and was given most likely 9 months to live after diagnosis. Both she and her mother Jane, strong women, said that was not the plan. Every day of her battle was met with positive energy and determination to beat it. Thru shunt placement surgeries, wearing an Optune cap, chemo, radiation, and the day-to-day struggles, she never gave up. In her final days and conversations with her mom, she kept apologizing for not beating "it".

Mariah is survived by her loving and determined mother and her grandmother.
