Not only will we have the curtain installed in time for the show, we are now looking into options for lighting, sound, scholarships for kids who want to participate, and other upgrades to the auditorium at the Marian Anderson Rec Center! A new musical theater program for children ages 5-12 has just begun at the Marian Anderson Recreation Center. Taught by actress and teacher Nicketta Raynee, students from diverse backgrounds are learning how hard work, creativity, and lots of practice come together to create an amazing performance.
The cast and crew are busy rehearsing for their inaugural production of The Lion King on May 19.
While Marian Anderson Recreation Center has provided a great space for the program, the aging rec center has a lot of needs, most especially a working stage curtain!
Unfortunately, stage curtains are very expensive, and we have very little time to raise the amount we need to ensure that the curtain is in place for the performance.
Any amount helps to ensure that this amazing resource for our neighborhood's children can continue to grow and thrive. Thank you for your support!
