Marianne Wright-Butcher Fighting the Fight

Donation protected
Hi, I am organizing this GoFundMe for my sister-in-law, Marianne Wright-Butcher. Marianne is a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. Marianne is genuinely a gentle and loving person who has always put her family first and is as close a friend as someone could be as fortunate to have. She is also a dedicated nurse who serves our veteran population. For the last few years Marianne has been battling with health issues. Unfortunately, in December 2023, she was diagnosed with clear cell carcinoma. This type of cancer is prone to metastasis and can be resistant to chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Since January, 2024, she has received three rounds of chemotherapy treatments. Recently, she learned that one of her kidneys is 100% malfunctioning due to the tumor pressing on the ureter. She has an appointment to have a stent placed in the ureter with the hopes of regaining some kidney function. Marianne has also been informed that the chemotherapy treatments that she has received have proven to be ineffective, as the tumor size has not responded to the treatment. The current plan is for Marianne to start radiation, but she was also advised to seek a second opinion. She has a scheduled appointment at Sloan Kettering to discuss further options. Marianne has had to miss time at work in order to attend her many appointments and/or because of the negative effects of her treatments and overall health. Her family humbly requests any monetary donation that you are able to make to offset the costs of her travel to Sloan Kettering and the costs of her copays of her medical appointments and treatments. Any assistance that you are able to donate will be greatly appreciated to help Marianne on her road to recovery. She's a fighter, but a little help in her corner will go a long way. On behalf of her family, we thank you.

4-5-24 Update - On Thursday, 3-28-24, Marianne had her appointment at Sloan Kettering to discuss her options. Upon having a discussion with the physician, she was notified that she would be informed of a surgery date in order to surgically excise the tumor. While she was at Sloan, Marianne also had to undergo an unexpected MRI. This week while waiting for notification of the surgical date, she received the results of the MRI. The report revealed suspicious malignancy to the posterior urinary bladder, the distal left ureter and abutting adjacent to the rectosigmoid colon. It also indicated a cystic deposit right anterior to the urinary bladder which is suspicious for malignancy. It further stated suspicion for nodal metastasis with possible venous invasion. In light of the MRI results, Marianne was informed that the Tumor Board had to discuss her case to determine if surgery is currently the best course of treatment. Yesterday she was advised that it was their determination that surgery is not recommended, at this time. She was instructed by the physician to receive six more chemotherapy treatments in conjunction with Keytruda. The possibility of surgery will be revisited after that is completed. The family wishes to thank everyone for their donations, cards and prayers. We ask for your continued prayers so that Marianne emerges victorious.
