Dear Friends,
Ever since beginning my French language study in Paris in 2018, I have had a dream of returning for immersive language study and to work intensively with the amazing pianist, Susan Manoff. After applying for a Fulbright grant in October, I made it all the way to the final round as an alternate candidate for the award. This is quite an honor, but not quite a grant. Grant or no, I feel called to move to Paris this fall and pursue this dream. Many of you know my story, losing my mother in 2017, then my first big career opportunities to the onset of the pandemic in 2020 (https://www.marieengle.com/from-a-bulb-concert-project). But my hope has regrown from this loss and it has blossomed into this dream.
Between pandemic stimulus checks and income from performance work this summer, I will have saved most of the funds I need to live abroad for the coming year. The language program I intend to pursue at the Fondation Robert de Sorbon- Cours de civilisation française de la Sorbonne, which enables me to get a visa and stay in France for the whole year, will cost an additional 5000 Euros. While I hope to find some means of income during this year, I need your help to make this dream possible from the onset. I hope to raise $5000 by the end of July, but I would gladly accept month by month sponsorship, should that alternative be preferable.
To me, your support represents the hope of pursuing an impossible dream. I cannot make this happen without the help of the community and I hope that you will join into this dream with me. I will be sending regular updates and social media posts about what I am learning, working on and pursuing and your support will be a part of every performance, lesson and properly conjugated verb.
Thank you, thank you for being a part of this journey and this dream!
