About Marie:
Marie Rose (Vaccarino) Kix was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 1, 1934, to parents Anna (Henkel) and John Vaccarino. She was raised on Long Island and attended Hempstead High School, she married Frederick Edmund Kix on January 30, 1954, in West Hempstead, NY.
The ultimate matriarch, Marie had 7 children, 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She brought her vivacious laugh, sweet singing voice and enviable dancing everywhere she went, be it large family gatherings or simply, her day-to-day life. In addition to being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Marie attracted friends everywhere she went with her larger-than-life personality. She even adopted the nicknames “Mama Kix” and “Mama Mia,” given to her by the legions of unrelated friends and fans who wanted Marie to be their grandma too.
Marie worked in healthcare until she was 74 years old and lived her golden years in Florida where she thrived listening to music, reading, taking her daily walks, and playing card and dice games. She could beat anyone at a game of Yahtzee. She enjoyed traveling all around the country to visit her kids, grandkids and great grandkids and would hop on a plane just to watch a sports game or dance recital.
