Marigold's Emergency Vet Care

Donation protected
Hi, we're Catherine and Daniel, trying to fundraise for our puppy Marigold, who is currently undergoing Emergency Vet Care.

Our Marigold is usually a bundle of joy and is as sweet as can be. She loves fetching tennis balls and jumping through the sprinkler on hot summer days. Over the last week, her health has dramatically declined. We had to rush her to the Emergency Vet last Wednesday night around 11 PM because we thought she might have been experiencing bloat. Her stomach was hard; she was drooling, wouldn't eat nor drink and hadn't had bowel movements that day.

She spent two nights at the Vet, where they did multiple x-rays and ultrasounds and put her on antibiotics and IV fluids. They could see a mass in the x-rays and thought they would need to do surgery or at least an endoscopepy to see what was going on. They called back a little while later and said in the latest round of x-rays, they could see that the mass was moving through her tracts.

They sent her home on Friday; they mentioned that she never passed anything foreign but ate and drank and appeared to be back to normal. We were ecstatic!! We had our baby back home and safe!

Yesterday (Sunday), we noticed that her behavior was trending back to how it was on Wednesday. She wasn't moving nearly as much, appeared uncomfortable, and wasn't drinking. We called the emergency vet, and they said as long as she was still able to have bowel movements and was eating, we could wait and bring her to her primary care on Monday morning.

During the early morning hours of Monday, we took Marigold out to go to the bathroom; she squatted to pee but fell over completely. She was able to poop but no longer wanted to eat. Her body temperature was colder than usual; her tongue was icy.

We brought her into our regular Vet this morning, where they have her hooked up to more fluids and will do more diagnostic testing.

In the last few days, we have spent $4,500 at the Emergency Vet, and our regular vet anticipated our bill to range from $1,000 to $3,000 today (assuming she doesn't need surgery). We will do whatever it takes to get our sweet baby angel back and healthy; the funds raised here will go towards the credit card bill used to pay for her services.

We have since enrolled in Pet Insurance, but since this incident had occurred before registering, it is considered a pre-existing condition and the insurance can not be used. However, in the future, we want to be able to provide the same care to Marigold if ever needed; the insurance will help lessen the financial burden.

We're nervous that Marigold's care is not yet over and will cost closer to $8-10k. We are so grateful for any assistance that can be given.

We will provide updates as soon as they are available from our Vet.

Love,
Catherine and Daniel
