Marilyne's Road to Recovery-- Car Accident Fund

On February 11, 2019, our friend Marilyne Phu was in a traumatic car accident after a driver ran a red light and directly hit her side of the car. After having to be cut out by the fire rescue team, she was rushed to Orlando Regional Medical Center with serious injuries. The accident left Marilyne with deep lacerations, broken teeth, two broken ribs, multiple breaks in her pelvic bone, and a punctured lung. In the emergency room she had to immediately undergo a procedure to install a chest tube to prevent her lung from collapsing. That same evening she was operated on to install plates and screws to piece back together her broken pelvis. This left her in the hospital for a total of 2.5 weeks; recovering and going through rehab before she was released to go home. However, she will be confined to a wheelchair and unable to walk for three months.

Upon her return, her home had to be made wheelchair accessible, this included purchasing handicap-friendly fixtures, equipment, and furniture. Now that she is on the road to recovery, the biggest hurdle is the financial burden of lost wages, medical, and therapy bills. She will continue to accrue expenses as she still needs to undergo operations to fix her teeth and therapy to get her back on her feet. As a 23-year-old student, this will undoubtedly set her back in her work and studies. That’s why we are seeking your help.
