This is a very tragic time in our family. A year ago we lost our father to melanoma cancer. And now, our youngest sister Nina has been intubated since 19 September and basically on full life support at Valley Regional Hospital in Brownsville, Texas fighting COVID-19. She was admitted by ambulance on 10 September; 10 days after her first symptom. Her first chest X-ray revealed significant damage to her lungs due to bilateral pulmonary embolisms: she went into acute respiratory failure twice. Unfortunately she faced other battles in this war including multiple infections and the lung damage has deprived her body of normal oxygen saturation rates. Blood thinners have had minimal impact on the blood clots and the swelling from the steroids and the constant drawing of blood to check her levels are a painful sight to see. Her heart has skirted cardiac arrest and we are accepting the inevitable. Leave it to our sister for her heart to fight until the end.

As a family, we have decided to cremate our sister and divide her ashes. This GoFundMe is to prepare for this unexpected funeral/cremation services. We thank you and appreciate any support.
