The KarmaBank team is super proud to support Marina Logacheva, an aspiring Paralympian and one of the most inspiring women we have ever met. 

 

We hope to raise £10,000 for Marina to buy the sports equipment (handbike) that she needs to train and compete. 

 

We are excited for Marina and hopeful that with a bit of help from you, we can help make her dream a reality.

 

A little about Marina

 

On December 30th 2020, whilst on holiday, Marina had a fall and sustained a severe and complicated fracture-dislocation of one of her cervical vertebrae. This accident resulted in a complete loss of mobility below the lumbar region, a partial loss of mobility in the arms, dysfunction of organs in the pelvic region and a loss of thermoregulation. Following an operation, Marina remained on a ventilator until February 5th until they moved her to the second hospital. On March 13th, she moved to another rehabilitation centre when her condition improved, and they took her off the ventilator. She continued to work hard on enhancing mobility and getting better.

 

Just over two years since her tragic accident, Marina is doing so much better!

She is back in London where she lived for more than 12 years, she is working part-time whilst maintaining the rehabilitation process and training for the triathlon. Marina campaigns for the rights of disabled people, is a registered nutritional therapist in the UK, arranges lectures about nutrition for people with spinal injuries and keeps active on social media

Prior to her injury, Marina was a Marketing Director based in London and led an active, healthy lifestyle. Being a keen sportswoman, she took part in several marathons and triathlons in the UK, Estonia, Belgium, France and elsewhere. She completed her first full Ironman challenge in Tallinn, in September 2020, just 3 months before her accident.
