Marine Vet shot on Christmas while home visiting

While other families celebrate Christmas traditions, our family has had its share of Christmas scares & tragedies. To name a few, this holiday season marks the anniversaries of the passing of the great pillars that have held us up and kept us all united. Our grandmother who raised us all, passed away in 2003 on My birthday, Dec. 24th. It has never been the same. Our grandfather who was a pastor passed in 2013 on Dec. 27th. And this year, Christmas day, One of my older brothers, Benjamin Williams, was shot in the chest and underwent serious surgeries. He is a retired Marine who now lives in North Carolina. But was in our hometown of Miami, Fl to be the best man in our younger brother’s wedding. This was meant to be a time of celebration. My family and I laughed and danced all day and night on Christmas Eve, for the first time in quite a while.
On Christmas day, Benjamin was shot in the chest while on his way to one of the family get togethers. The bullet hit major organs, but the doctors and nurses have been taking very good care of him. We are so lucky, because this could have played out so differently. And our family did not need anymore Christmas Blues.
He was expected to drive back to North Carolina on the 26th to get back home to his children. He is a single father, and was in the process of finding a new house for him and his family to live. His truck suffered damage in the shooting as well. He will be out of work & school trying to recover from his condition. He could really use any help that you could offer to ensure his safe return home to North Carolina and support to take care of the expenses that will build up while he is out of work.
Anything is welcome. Thanks so much for letting me share our story. Please keep our family in your thoughts. Happy Holidays
