Mariner Middle School Outdoor Learning Space

Teaching our students is not the same as it used to be.  We are wearing masks, social distancing, and cleaning more than before, but we miss the days of group work and shared materials.  As we stand outside each day to greet students between buildings 2 and 5, a few of the teachers at Mariner Middle began visualizing an outdoor learning space for students to get fresh air, Vitamin D, and learn all at the same time.  We envision removing the grass and laying down gravel for the area.  We would like to place plants and flowers around the edges of the space.  We would need seating for students, possibly Adirondack chairs and/or benches.  We feel that this space will be a much more enjoyable way for students to learn, collaborate, and be rewarded with.  
   While we do not know the actual total that we will need for the space, or every expense at this time, we do know that we will need help to achieve our goal.  We plan to keep this fundraiser open until the end of February so that this years students have an opportunity to use it before the end of the year. 
   We have already had many community members respond to our project on Facebook, and we are so appreciative of the time and materials people have offered thus far.  This space will give students a break from the indoors for years to come.  Any donations to our fundraiser are greatly appreciated and will continue to be for all future Mariner Middle students and staff.
