Mario Guzman Arechiga Memorial Fund

Born Mario Guzman Arechiga on August 15, 1945, but he was "Nino" to my siblings and me. The word comes from Godfather in Spanish, and although he was officially my brother Jonathon's Godfather, he was just MY Nino too. I grew up with Nino and Nina like grandparents. He always encouraged me to study and to do whatever made me happy I knew he was so proud of me. Nino was a car mechanic and he was really good at it, but what he really wanted to do in life was to be a surgeon. He loved everything that had to do with the inside of the human body. But life as an immigrant had a different path, and he was always grateful for what he did have; he was grateful to God every day.

We had Nino in our lives for 77 years and although it sounds like a lot, my selfish brain goes to "why did he have to leave this world so soon?" Time with our loved ones is never enough but the time we spent with him was lived to the fullest, and I am so grateful for that.

This Memorial Fund is being set up to help my Nina pay for the funeral costs. The Funeral is set for August 25, so this will only give us about a week and a half to help raise funds. Thank you to everyone for your donations and prayers.
