Mariposa Scholarship 2020
Donation protected
***Together we can help an undocumented student pay for tuition this semester!***
The Mariposa Scholarship was initiated with the objective of creating funds specifically to assist DACA/Undocumented students in North Texas in furthering their education while accomplishing their academic goals.
Applying for local scholarships as a regular student can already be competitive. However, as a non-U.S citizen or non-resident, there is a limited amount scholarships available to choose from. Most of them are opened to all DACA students in the entire U.S or only available in certain states. The reason behind this is because undocumented students, including DACA recipients, are not eligible for federal student aid.
With the pandemic caused by COVID-19, undocumented families have had little to no economic support from the government and in some cases, they've faced unemployment due to the temporary closure of businesses.
This scholarship will allow either a recent high school graduate, a current college student or even a grad student pay off a portion of their tuition for this Fall 2020 semester.
**IF THE GOAL IS EXCEEDED, WE WILL CLOSELY LOOK INTO ADDING ANOTHER SCHOLARSHIP RECIPIENT...Let's make it happen!**
REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:
-In a short essay of no less than 450 words, tell us about yourself and your academic and/or career goals.
-Send essay document to [email redacted]
-Fill out Google Form with required information.
Deadline: August 15th, 2020.
Disclaimer:
There is a fee of 2.9% plus $0.30 fee per donation on GoFundMe. These fees go directly to the payment process when funds are withdrawn.
