Mariusz's Road to Recovery
Donation protected
Imagine thinking you have the stomach flu since your head has been hurting and you have been vomiting for several days, well this is what our dear friend and neighbor Mariusz Andzel was experiencing two weeks ago. Then, on Sunday December 9th, he woke up and wasn't able to feel his legs or lift himself out of bed. His wife of 10 years, knew something was not right. She decided that she needed to take him to the emergency room. After many tests and exams, they found out that Mariusz has a brain tumor in the thalamus. The thalamus is located deep within the brain and it has several important functions. It relays sensory signals including motor signals and it regulates consciousness, sleep and alertness. Mariusz and Magdalena were devastated to hear the news as were we all. On Monday December 17th Mariusz underwent surgery to do a biopsy of the tumor and to remove as much of the tumor as possible. Although the surgeons tried to get as much of the tumor as possible, they couldn't get it all without causing serious permanent damage. Mariusz will need to undergo chemotherapy and radiation. He has a long and difficult road to recovery. Mariusz and Magdalena have a strong faith in God and pray everyday. Mariusz and Magdalena have three wonderful school-aged boys their names are Patrick (10), Philip (6), and Alan (6) to which Mariusz is the sole provider. To make matters worse, he is self-employed which means there is no money coming in. Magdalena has been in the hospital with him everyday since Mariusz has been admitted. He has been in the hospital now for two weeks without a release date. If you are able to give to this amazing family, please do so. Every little bit helps. Thank you for taking the time to read this.
