Mark, Alynn and Family
Donation protected
Mark and Alynn live with their family in Saskatchewan. Mark is a business owner in the construction industry and Alynn is busy mother, raising her family. Early in 2023 Mark began experiencing persistent back pain. Many months of chiropractor, massage, acupuncture and osteopathic appointments followed but this did not resolve the pain.
Additional treatment and scan appointments were booked. Cortisol shots, MRI, physical therapy and nerve studies did not relieve the pain or determine a conclusive diagnosis. After more consultation with medical professionals and family, a stand-up MRI appointment was scheduled and the results showed a stress fracture on a vertebra in the lower back and herniated L5, S1 discs, which was the source of the severe pain.
After consultation with local surgeons and medical administration it was determined that back surgery would be required. However, the estimated wait time for local surgery was 2 years and an extensive pain management program was proposed. After this deflating news, Mark and Alynn began looking into other surgery locations. A few options were considered and after a conversation with a surgeon from a Mexican clinic, they felt that the procedure they offered would permanently repair Mark’s back and remove the pain and a surgery date was scheduled for April 2025.
As a close friend of both Mark and Alynn, I have witnessed this battle as a helpless observer. The debilitating pain Mark has been experiencing has not only impacted his health, but also his ability to work, socialize and live a normal life. We are prayerfully asking for any assistance you may be willing to provide, to help the family cover the surgery costs and post-surgery rehabilitation.
