On Friday March 2nd we received an unfathomable phone call. While laying on her couch our mother was crushed and pinned by a 100 foot pine tree blown over during the storm. The tree as pictured cut their home in half... the impact directly hitting the couch where she lay and so heavy that it pushed the couch through the floor. My stepfather and their two fur babies escaped with no physical injuries. As she was extracted from under the tree, the wood stove exploded causing a fire. Thank god they got her out in time! At this point she has suffered broken ribs which punctured her lung and a fracture of her L1 vertebrae. An MRI today will give us more information.
In the meantime, they have nothing as the House is condemned. They are not ones to ask help, but at this point they need any and all the help they can get. As their daughters we will do all we can, but appreciate anything to help them to start to get on their feet as we navigate this process.
Thank you!!
