Mark Antwain Costin. A Father, Fiancé And Hero.

Mark was a hero. On September fourth, our family went to the beach for some last day of Summer fun which turned to tragedy. As Mark was out in the ocean with his daughter and my sister (his step-daughter), a rip current drove my little sister out to sea. He, at first, thought she was joking when she said she was struggling, but when he noticed things were real, he didn't hesitate to put her life before his own. Mark immediately swam to push her to safety, but seeming lost consciousness during his efforts. A nearby surfer grabbed my sister as Mark began floating off. Other surfers tried to reach him, but couldn't before a wave took him under. His life from start to finish was built on saving people from his tenure as a Medic in the National Guard to his final act of heroism on that beach. Unfortunately the National Guard does not cover his funeral costs, and we want to send our hero out with the same energy he gave us.

We are asking the help of friends, family, and strangers alike to work together and attempt to honor him one final time for the hero he is. If you need anymore proof of the hero he was in the end, check the photos below and know that these only scratch the surface. May he rest in peace knowing from wherever he is, that my 12 y/o sister Reagan is alive and well to live a full life because of him.

Service Information: The service is to be held at the Demarco-Luis Funeral Home at 2755 S. Lincoln Ave, 10 AM on the 16th of September.
