Mark Capps lung transplant
Donation protected
Hi, My name is Diana Capps, I’m fund raising for my husband Mark Capps
In January 2022, Mark contracted Covid, which caused interstitial lung disease. His lungs have progressively gotten worse and he’s been on oxygen since late January 2022.
On December 24, 2022 after being back in the hospital for two months, he was intubated with the hope he would be transferred to Stanford Hospital On December 26, 2022 a Stanford ECMO team came and put Mark on ecmo and flew him to Stanford in the hope he would be approved for a lung transplant. On January 5, 2023 Mark was approved to go on the transplant list. Two days later he was given an offer of lungs from a donor who wanted to help someone else after their passing so on January 9, 2023 they started the transplant which took fourteen hours. Mark is having some complications but the team at Stanford are handling them well. I am staying close to the hospital so I can be here with him and when he is well enough to leave the hospital, he will need to live close by for three to four months while he recovers and to make sure he does not reject his new lungs. The medication he will need after is quite expensive and so is parking, food, housing and travel back and forth for doctor appointments. We are from Madera CA. Where we have had a great life. Mark is a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend to many and an avid race car driver. He loves to compete with the best nostalgia, race series can offer. Mark is a wonderful man and I wish help him all I can. Any donations are much appreciated .
