Mark Evans Journey
Donation protected
Mark Evans is a lifelong resident of Brampton, a kind and helpful neighbour/ friend, devoted husband, father and fun loving grandpa.
Mark worked as a Brampton Firefighter for 39 years, retiring as a District Chief. Throughout his career he also actively competed as a member of the World Championship Brampton Fire Combat Team. On May 9th of this year, The Combat Team was inducted into the Brampton Sports Hall of Fame.
On February 22, 2023 while on a hike in Heart Lake Conservation Area, Mark slipped on ice causing him to lose his balance and fall backwards. He was unable to get up but was found by another hiker. With the amazing help from the Brampton Fire Services and the Peel Paramedics Mark was rushed to Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto. He had emergency spinal surgery to relieve the compression on the nerves and to stabilize his spine. The C3/C4 fracture has resulted in Mark's lack of mobility and sensation in his arms and legs.
Following his spinal surgery, Mark is now at Lyndhurst Rehabilitation Centre in Toronto. Together with therapists and other medical professionals his journey will require a lot of patience, hard work, dedication and belief.
Mark has an amazing amount of support from his immediate family. However, we as caring friends/ neighbours and others want to help out more. Your donations will benefit Mark and his family financially through this very difficult time. It will provide assistance to purchase items such as a modified assistance vehicle, retrofit their home, a portable lift, a specialized wheelchair and other medical devices. These aids will promote independence with daily tasks and the opportunity to live his best quality of life.
We would like to thank everyone in advance for thinking of Mark and his family. The contributions will make a positive impact for his future and your support is so greatly appreciated.
Let’s see how much we can raise together, every little bit counts!
