Mark Foster needs our help.

Mark Foster joined the Shutesbury Fire Department in 2015, but firefighting service wasn’t new to Mark. In fact, he joined his hometown fire department in Averill Park, NY when he was only sixteen years old.

During his tenure as a member of the Shutesbury Fire Department, Mark served as an Engineer/Driver and Assistant Director of Emergency Management. In September 2022, he was appointed Deputy Chief. Mark was certified as a Massachusetts State Fire Inspector and performed many fire inspections for the department.

Mark received a Massachusetts State Police Public Service Award in June, 2022 for his actions and dedication to the Commonwealth following an incident in 2018.

Mark joined the United States Air Force in 1977 and served as an Air Force Firefighter in active duty and in the Air National Guard until 1992.

Mark is a kind and caring community member, a loving husband, and a dedicated volunteer. His dedication to the health and safety of Shutesbury residents is inspiring.

In March of this year, Mark was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He is very sick. His wife, Whitney has had to leave her job in order to care for Mark during this challenging time.

Since 2015, Mark has been caring for us. It is time for us to care for Mark.
