Timothy "Mark" Gosnell - Dignity in ALS Care
Donation protected
Hello, friends and family. As many of you may be aware, In January 2022, our dear friend, Timothy "Mark" Gosnell, was diagnosed with ALS, a devastating and progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
With this diagnosis, life as he knew it changed in a heartbeat, as ALS has a very grim outcome. Typically, 80 percent of people with ALS die within two to five years of being diagnosed. Unfortunately, not everyone progresses at the same speed and Mark’s decline has been more accelerated than even his doctors could have anticipated.
In the last 3 months, Mark has completely lost use of the muscles in his neck, compromising his ability to both speak and swallow. And, as of last week, he no longer has the ability to use either of his arms - making it impossible for him to contribute to his own care.
While hospice can offer some assistance, Mark’s continued decline will require daily care that comes at a tremendous cost. This creates a financial hardship for both Mark and his husband, Roberto, as he will not be paid during his family medical leave of absence (FMLA) to care for Mark.
I am asking you for your help and support with this financial burden so that our friend, Mark, can live out his life with the quality and dignity he deserves.
I would also ask that you please share this message with friends who know Mark and Roberto and would like to support them as well. Every contribution matters. Thank you in advance for your love and support!
