Mark L. Schnabel Celebration Of Life
Donation protected
In Remembrance of Mark Schnabel.
Dear friends and family,
I am writing today about the loss of my brother Mark, who was taken too soon in a fatal traffic accident. His obituary has been shared and published in several places, and can also be found here (bottom).
This is set up for those who would like a way to contribute to Mark’s memorial service in Alzada, MT.
A separate Go Fund Me was previously set up in Arizona to help with expenses related to the service held in Apache Junction, but we know the need to also have a service up North, where he was raised, and spent many years, touching the lives of so many people, and where he will rest.
We have planned a modest but proper ceremony that Mark would appreciate. Donations will be used for expenses related to his service, burial, and memorial in Alzada. Any extra proceeds from this will be going to Trail’s End Ranch in Ekalaka, Montana.
He was many things to so many people, a father, a son, a brother, a nephew and a friend. If he knew you had a need, he couldn’t wait to help, living each day as if it was his last.
He was an Apache Junction Mounted Ranger, a big game hunter, a fisherman, a biker, a lineman, a communications technician, a handyman, a man not afraid to share the Gospel, if he believed you might listen.
Mark Leonard Schnabel, a cherished individual who touched the lives of many, passed away tragically on June 18, 2023, as a result of a fatal traffic accident. He was 52 years old at the time of his passing. Mark resided in Apache Junction, AZ, where he leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion.
Mark is survived by his beloved daughter, Sydney Schnabel, who resides in Mesa, AZ. He is also survived by his mother, Anne Yates, hailing from Newell, SD, and his brother Terry Schnabel, residing in Placerville, CA. Mark was predeceased by his older brother Wade Schnabel, his father Gerald Schnabel, as well as his grandparents from both sides of the family.
Mark entered this world on November 5, 1970, in Gillette, Wyoming, to parents Gerald Schnabel and Anne (Dye) Schnabel. His formative years were spent in the picturesque Black Hills, where he discovered a deep passion for hunting and fishing. It was during this time that he also developed a strong affinity for
God and horses, fostered by his close relationship with his uncles, who served as his mentors.
At the age of 16, Mark ventured to California but soon returned to the Black Hills, independently completing his high school education while staying with friends and family. He proudly graduated from Spearfish High School, marking a significant milestone in his life. Following his graduation, Mark settled
in Arizona, close to his mother, and made it his home. Throughout the years, he engaged in Communication Contracting, a profession that took him across the western United States, including Alaska, enriching his life with diverse experiences.
Mark married and embraced the joys of fatherhood, adding immeasurable happiness to his life. He was a dedicated father, actively involved in the upbringing of his daughter. An individual of unwavering faith, he attended various churches, steadfastly following the spiritual path instilled in him, largely by his Uncle Chip.
For the past 17 years, Mark found professional fulfillment as a communications technician with the Cox family. In addition to his career, he joined the Apache Junction Mounted Rangers, a commitment that reflected his deep connection to both the organization and his community. Known for his kind heart and willingness to lend a helping hand, Mark was always there for those in need. Living each day in close communion with his Creator, Mark led a full and purposeful life, although his time with us was cut short. He left an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him, and his
memory will forever be cherished.
A funeral service was held on June 24th at 11:00 AM at the Superstition Funeral Home in Apache Junction, located at 398 East Old West Highway.
A celebration of Life will be held at the Alzada Community Hall on July 8, 2023 at 2 P.M. Mark will be laid to rest next to his brother, Wade Schnabel.
As we mourn the loss of Mark, let us remember the light he brought into our lives and the enduring love
he shared. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memory continue to inspire us to live each day
with faith, passion, and compassion.
Thank you so much for considering donating and taking time to read about Mark and the lives he touched.
