Mark Lane's Lung Surgery & Recovery
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Monica and I'm fundraising for my younger brother Mark Lane. Mark is 34 years old, an NFL journalist, and all around amazing man. He works 60 hours a week writing about the Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Arkansas Razorbacks, and reports for a local radio station in Texarkana all while being the primary caregiver for my mother who is paralyzed from Multiple Sclerosis.
Over the past year, he has had lung issues that have not been resolved nor have doctors been able to pinpoint a cause. He has lost nearly 30 pounds, and last week his lung collapsed while taking my mother to a doctor's appointment. (Unrelated, she has also been hospitalized.) The current surgery is to attach his thorax to his lung so that he doesn't have any cardiac issues develop from lung fluid buildup. They are still unsure of the underlying cause and will take biopsies in an effort to help him become whole again.
Mark is a giver. The biggest giver I've known in my entire life. Sacrificing "the best years of your" life for your ailing mother is a big deal. And Mark is the real deal. He does more than just care for her, though; he makes sure Mom is able to travel across the country to see her kids, her sisters, and her grandchildren. He does things that fully funded non-profits can't even fathom doing for people like our mother - and he does it all while being devoted to his career. For many of you reading this, it might be the first time you realize what Mark's life is like on the daily. It's not something he's going to talk about - after all, Mark is a teen cancer survivor. He digs in and does what he needs to do. He's an inspiration and blessing and writing this post about him is the least I can do.
It would be an absolute blessing if we could all dig in and give just a little to mark to help ease this financial stress. Every little bit helps. Thank you SO MUCH for thinking of Mark and giving.
