Mark’s Brain Cancer Treatment

Donation protected
For those who aren’t fortunate enough to know him yet, Mark Purvis is a 54 year old man with a charismatic personality like no one else you will ever meet. Once you’ve been lucky enough to have met him, you’ll remember him for the rest of your life. His lightheartedness and unrelenting dedication to making everyone smile or laugh is one of a kind. As a family man and a true people’s person, Mark’s infectious enthusiasm for life and connecting with others is palpable when he is around. He is everyone’s best friend, he is the one everyone goes to when advice or wisdom regarding anything is needed; and he always makes sure those close to him are taken care of before himself. He’s a phenomenal man that gets along with quite literally everyone he meets.

On the morning of April 29th 2023, Mark collapsed from what the doctors believe was a seizure. He was rushed to a local ER where they performed several test including bloodwork, physical tests to check for signs of stroke, and a CT scan of his head. The preliminary results from the CT indicated what the doctor said looked like a mass in the frontal lobe of his brain. He was then transferred to the neurology floor to undergo further evaluation.

In the early hours of the following morning, he was taken back for an MRI. The MRI revealed that there are in fact two tumors in his brain and the location of these tumors makes them unresectable, or unable to be removed with surgery. Furthermore, the neurosurgeons stated that “it would be beyond any medical explanation if this was NOT cancer.” A few long days later, the neurosurgeon performed a biopsy on Mark’s tumors for the oncologists to determine what kind of cancer he is up against and to further advise on treatment options.

Mark continues to stand strong and is facing this ugly disease with unwavering determination and a hunger to overcome it. Mark’s family and friends are incredibly supportive and are fighting right there along with him, every step of the way. As of writing this, chemotherapy and radiation are the two main treatments suggested by the specialists Mark and the family have spoken to. With that being said, any donations made will strictly be used to cover medical bills from his hospital stay and/or future treatment/care.

On behalf of Mark’s family: There are no words to express how much we appreciate all donations of any amount to help our best friend receive the life saving care we can get him. We are also grateful for the absolutely incredible support his countless friends and colleagues have provided Mark (and us) in the past few days. Your continued support and prayers are never taken for granted and we will forever be thankful.

Note: The family will update this page as soon as new information regarding Mark’s condition is discovered.
