Mark Reid Memorial Hockey Fund
A GoFundMe account has been initiated as a memorial fund for our teammate who, after a hard-fought battle with Covid-19, took his last shift December 20, 2020 at 3:14pm.
Mark was a huge part of the St. Thomas Minor Hockey community growing up. He honed his skills on the rink, outdoor ponds and backyard rinks. He played over 30 years in the St. Thomas region until he moved to California where he continued to play the game he so loved.
It wasn’t the trophies, medals or awards that kept Mark coming back, it was the love of the game and his teammates. A great teammate brings their teammates together, is willing to play any role and works hard to improve their game. A great teammate also builds lifelong friendships and sets you up for other valuable life experiences. In 1992, Freightliner opened a truck manufacturing plant in St. Thomas, and they picked Mark to be on their team. That team exceeded 2,000 teammates, all of which he cherished.
In Mark’s honour we would like to provide a child with the opportunity to be part of a team by giving back to hockey. Proceeds will be put towards an annual sponsorship of a child to play hockey, run a specialized clinic or to send a team to a tournament that they maybe wouldn’t have been able to attend.
Let’s make Mark proud and give more children a chance to play the game he loved.
We thank you for your contribution in Mark's memory. As a son, brother, husband, father, and teammate he will be deeply missed.
