Mark Van Schenkhof
Donation protected
Dear friends and MHS former students of Mr van Schenkhof -
I am reaching out to share news about Mark’s battle with ALS and to ask for your help as we continue to support him and Carol in this difficult time. For those of you who rallied together this spring to provide some financial support given their extraordinary expenses for home care, we are thrilled to share that so far we’ve raised enough to provide them with ~2 months of support, but his situation has continued to deteriorate and we are asking again for your help.
As you may know, Mark has been battling ALS for the last few years.. ALS is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, and it has taken a severe toll on Mark's physical and financial health, leaving him partially paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
If you are able to make a donation to help support Mark and Carol and ease their costs at this difficult time, it would mean the world to them. They have been such dear friends and mentors to us and so many in the Manhasset High School community, and we want to give them all the support we can. If every student who walked through the doors of Mark's classroom or received a “Happy Birthday” song from him over the years made a contribution, it would go a long way towards easing his situation and showing him our love and support.
You can make a donation directly to Carol & Mark at this Go Fund Me Page!
If you have a moment to share this fundraising campaign with any fellow Manhasset High School Alumni, voice students of Mark and Carol, faculty members of Manhasset High School, and/or the Manhasset or Port Washington community, that would be gratefully appreciated. While we asked that you keep our earlier appeal private/off social media, we’ve confirmed that Carol and Mark are comfortable with you sharing this news with anyone in your broader networks who can support.
Thank you so much for your support and please reach out directly if you have any questions about donating or other ideas on how to help.
With much gratitude,
THANK YOU <3
