We created this account to help Mark Waldrop.
Mark suffered a severe Aortic Dissection which ran the course of his aorta from to his heart down to the aortic bifurcation in his abdomen. Mark was transferred from Highlands Medical Center ER by ambulance instead of helicopter due to the fog that night to Erlanger Medical Center. His daughter, Megan, was told at Erlanger that they were shocked he made the trip alive much less alert and functioning. He underwent emergent surgery for over 6 hrs to repair the dissection. The surgeon informed he would require a second surgery to clean the remaining damage.
After being discharged home, Mark made plans to stay with Megan where he began physical therapy, home health nursing care, and remained on oxygen due to severe weakness of his lungs.
Mark was home for a few days when he suffered a heart attack and was sent to Huntsville Hospital by ambulance. The surgeon was not able to remove the clot causing the blockage due to being too large. They stented behind
the clot to prevent it from moving and around it to allow blood flow. The plan is to try to dissolve it. He spent several days in CCU at Huntsville Hospital. He was finally discharged home on home oxygen and another new medication regime.
As it stands now, Mark has a long recovery ahead of him. Home Health nursing and physical therapy are to resume. When he was discharged home from Erlanger he was told he’d require weekly scans at Erlanger for a while to monitor the aorta, especially the areas they haven’t repaired as of yet and eventually undergo a second surgery when his body has had time to heal. Also, the Huntsville Cardiologist will be monitoring the clot that caused the heart attack and he will most likely require additional heart cath.
Mark has a long recovery ahead of him. We appreciate any and all donations to help with Mark’s financial needs and medical bills. And if you are unable to donate, your prayers and thoughts are more than enough. We have been told by numerous doctors and nurses that it is a MIRACLE that Mark is still with us.
We appreciate all the prayers that have gone up for Mark from so many people, friends, family, churches, and even strangers. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts. Glory to God for Mark's miracles. God is Good!
