Mark Whitman Medical Fund

Mark Whitman has been a treasure in the Seattle Blues scene for many years. My family got  to know him in the mid 1990’s when we moved back to Seattle from Portland. It was during my daughters senior year in HS. We took her to a jam session where Mark and his band were playing.  They were supportive and let her sit in at their gigs (an invaluable experience for her)! She and her husband Ben  are musicians and music educators in the Portland area these days. Mark & his band were a great help to us! Now I am setting up this go fund me account in hopes of helping him.




Mark and his wife Maridel could use our help now to get through this health crisis. Funds donated can help pay rent, feed the family, get Maridel back and forth from hospital by  paying for gas and parking. Not to mention the mountain of hospital bills. Another way to help is to keep Mark in our prayers. 




Mark is recovering from Pneumococcal pneumonia, kidney failure, and a bout of congestive heart disease. All of these troubles come with complications from A to Z. Mark has been in the hospital for five weeks. Still no sign of going home. Two weeks ago he had a full cardiac arrest. He has been on a breathing machine for five weeks.

Pneumococcal infection can cause serious problems, such as pneumonia, which affects the lungs; meningitis, which affects the brain; and bacteremia, which is a severe infection in the blood.
