MARKET MATCH CONTINUES at the New Lebanon Farmers Market, as the market celebrates it's 10th outdoor market season!!!
At the start of the 2018 outdoor market season, the New Lebanon Farmers Market launched "MARKET MATCH", a money-matching program for low-income folks using SNAP, WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits.
The market uses donated funds to double the dollars of benefits that shoppers spend,
allowing them to spend twice as much at the market.
This funding complements a grant from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation that doubles the value of SNAP purchases made from June through October at the market.
The community-supported MARKET MATCH program allows the market to double SNAP purchases, as well as WIC and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program benefits ALL SEASON.
The funding for MARKET MATCH came from generous community members, like YOU!
MARKET MATCH is HUGELY IMPACTFUL!
This program has been very successful and was utilized greatly last season, as well as at the New Lebanon Winter Markets, putting more than $1,800 worth of fresh food on the tables of local families in need. That's also $1,800 into the pockets of local farmers and into our local economy!
WE NEED MORE FUNDING TO CONTINUE!
Because the program was wildly popular and exceeded expected usage rates. When given the opportunity and means - people WANT to buy fresh, local food!
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
Our 2019 outdoor season goal is to raise $2,500, which is estimated to cover MARKET MATCH through the rest of the season.
