Mark's Battle With Leukemia

Hello everyone,

We come to you with heavy hearts, seeking your support during the most difficult time of our lives. My beloved son, Mark, who has been courageously battling leukemia, is now in the final stages of this relentless disease. Mark’s journey with cancer began when he was just 6 years old when he was first diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. After years of chemotherapy and other treatments, Mark was finally in remission. Unfortunately, the cancer returned 10 years later just before Mark was set to graduate high school. He once again journeyed through several years of tortuous treatment to try and rid the cancer once and for all. As a result of his treatment, Mark developed avascular necrosis of both knees as well as glaucoma – both of which are complications commonly seen with leukemia treatment. Mark eventually showed signs of improvement and we thought this would be his last encounter with this dreaded disease. However, in May of this year, on his 22nd birthday, Mark received news that the leukemia had once again returned. After having spent the majority of his young life in and out of hospitals, along with the complications from his previous treatment course, it became too risky for Mark to seek anymore treatment for his leukemia.

As Mark’s primary caregiver, I have been unable to work to provide for our family's needs. My two older sons work very hard to try and make ends meet for our family, but the financial toll has become too difficult to cope with. We want Mark to experience peace and comfort in their final days as he has chosen to spend the rest of his time with us in our home. While our insurance policy helps cover some costs, there is still a significant portion that must come from our own pockets. Donations from this campaign will be used for pain management, in-home hospice care, and any other measures necessary to provide a loving and dignified environment for Mark.

As we navigate the heartbreaking journey ahead, we are touched in knowing that there are compassionate hearts like yours in this world. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference in Mark’s life and help us provide the care and love they deserve in their final days.
