Mark's Farewell Fund:Remembrance of a Gentle Soul

To capture Mark Izu's essence in words feels impossible, and more skilled writers are already doing so. I'll stick to dreaming of how one plays the feeling of the ocean with the bass, as Mark (who was partial to working in silly wool Tibetan fox slippers) did.

As the Managing Director of First Voice, I loved sneaking in moments with Mark. It’s been my joy to work and spend time with such a compassionate human being & true artist - a magical musician, innovator, collaborator, teacher, and loving husband, father, brother, uncle, and Grandpa to Baby Lucy! It is an honor to be a part of Mark & Brenda’s community of friends, family, and creatives in the Bay Area, and across the globe, and to support the family during this time with this GoFundMe.

The funds raised ("Mark's Farewell Fund") will go directly toward covering the costs of his end-of-life care, funeral/burial expenses, and Celebration of Life event (memorial service). This support will help ensure that Mark’s memory is honored in the way he deserves, while also offering some relief to his family during this deeply emotional time.

Details of Mark’s Celebration of Life (date TBD) will be posted on the FirstVoice.org website. In the meantime, share your memories & photos of Mark via this Memories of Mark link . Brenda would especially love pictures of your handwritten notes to Lucy telling her stories about her Grandpa.
