Mark's Journey Home: Overcoming Infections
Donation protected
A fellow martial artist and Co-Founder of the Tang Soo Do Masters Alliance is in need of help. Master Mark Laliberte is home after a long 27 days in the hospital.
Back on January 2, Mark said his foot was swollen. He called his foot doctor and got an appointment for the 6th. Well, when he got up on the 4th, he couldn’t get up, walk, nothing. (Mark is a diabetic and has severe neuropathy.) He had to leave home by ambulance.
Luckily, this was early in the morning and Eric (his son, who has Down syndrome) was sleeping, so he didn’t see any of it. He went to Bristol Hospital, but soon they felt this was too serious and he needed transport. Terri (his wife) took Eric home so he wouldn’t see Mark again being transported and all his pain. So off he went to New Britain General. Soon it was determined Mark had an infection in his foot, which had gone to his bloodstream, into his knees, and into his spine. The next week and a half was bad and scary, but
seven surgeries later, an extremely large skin graft over most of the top of his foot, he is home with a PICC line. Home, not really able to get around, but nevertheless home. He’s got a very long way to go, but Eric and Terri are so happy that their prayers are answered and Mark/Daddy is home.
As you can imagine, they are awaiting short-term disability, which will be 60% of his pay. At this time, there is no money coming in to pay bills. Help is needed imminently. Anything you can do would be of great help.
