More information about Duchenne UK: Duchenne UK is a lean, ambitious and highly focused charity with a clear vision: to fund and accelerate treatments and a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is the most common fatal genetic disease diagnosed in childhood. This devastating disease almost always affect boys, and they tend to be diagnosed before the age of 5. Children are in a wheelchair by the age of 12 and become gradually paralysed as their muscles weaken. Life expectancy is generally in the twenties.
