Marla's Marathon to Halt MS
Donation protected
Independence Day has a new meaning to me. I am excited to announce that I have been accepted for a stem cell transplant (HSCT) to halt my Multiple Sclerosis (MS). I was diagnosed with MS on June 5, 2000 when my twin girls were 5 months and my son was 2. MS is a progressive neurological autoimmune disease that has no cure and destroys the central nervous system continuously in its attack. My disease continues to progress despite the medications I take daily to help MS slow down. This is a chemotherapy based medical procedure that ablates your immune system and reboots it using your own stem cells harvested from your blood or bone marrow, which is the only Medical procedure currently available that has halted the progression is the majority of patients undertaking it. This is an extremely aggressive and expensive 28-day procedure. This is Marla's Marathon to live my best life! I am fundraising $55,00 for the procedure and $10,00 more for airfare, an MRI and medications at discharge.
