Help Alan After Marlene's Battle with Brain Cancer

Donation protected
Our Family:
We’re the family of Marlene Shirley, and we’re facing a heartbreaking reality. After being in breast cancer remission for over 10 years, we found out that the cancer returned, and aggressively spread through her body and brain. We’re facing the loss of a mother, wife, and provider.

What’s Happening:
Almost two weeks ago, while trying to recover from a surgery for a leg injury, Marlene was sick and very confused. After going to the hospital, we were all shocked and devastated to find out she had a massive, highly aggressive brain tumor. The removal surgery was difficult, and left her unconscious and on a ventilator, which will soon be removed. Our hearts ache while we are now preparing for the tragic reality that she will likely not survive.

Marlene’s Struggle:
Marlene’s battle with cancer is not new for herself or her family. Aside from Marlene’s own previous battles, many in her family have suffered from, beaten, and been lost to cancer as well. Through all these battles, Marlene has always been resilient.

What We’re Asking For and Why:
We’re facing the loss of a provider. Her husband, Alan Shirley, is disabled, on SSDI, and depends on her income. He’s not just losing a partner, he’s also tackling the reality that he can not afford to survive on his own, and having to accept this without her by his side.
We have high hopes to raise what we need for Alan to be focused on his wife and his healing process. We’re asking to raise $100,000, all of which will go directly to Alan for the following:

  • The Mortgage: Alan and Marlene have $50,000 remaining on their home mortgage. If we can fund this, Alan doesn’t have to fear losing the home and memories he’s built for decades with his wife.
  • Medical Bills: Marlene has mounting medical debts, as well as likely upcoming end-of-life expenses. Alan faces a financial burden that he simply cannot bear in the current situation, looking at medical bills alone. We have no idea what the final expenses will be, but Alan and Marlene both deserve to have peace and comfort in her final days.
  • Life After Marlene: Any remaining funds are for Alan to live the life he deserves. SSDI alone can not provide a good quality of life, so with any additional money, Alan will be purchasing daily necessities like food, clothes, gas, and other emergency expenses as they arise.

What This Means To Me:
My name is Cliff, and Alan and Marlene are my parents-in-law. I moved to Las Vegas with their daughter, Mel, years ago, and Marlene and Alan accepted me into their home and lives immediately. They let us live here, supported us, and allowed us to build our own life. For everything they’ve given us, they deserve more than we can possibly give back. Which is why I’m asking for:

Your Support:
Anything you can give is a little bit more than what we had. With this money we truly hope to secure Alan’s future. I can not thank you enough for your donations, and I would sincerely appreciate you passing along our story and our request to anyone and everyone you can.

Thank You All So Much!!!
