Marley's Last Chance
Tax deductible
Marley was brought in to a Corpus Christi, Texas vet clinic by a man who claimed he had just hit the pup with his car.
Because the man didn’t have a scheduled appointment, he was asked to wait his turn….and after a few minutes he decided to leave.
He then drove to the local shelter where he claimed he had just “found” the pup (who knows if the dog actually belonged to him, and whether he had hit Marley with his car, or maybe he had kicked him).
At any rate, Marley sat alone at the shelter, in excruciating pain with a badly broken rear leg—hoping some rescue would save him.
But…the hours turned into minutes, and—just before Marley was scheduled to be euthanized—our rescue agreed to take him.
Finding a local foster to hold a shelter dog pending transport is like finding a needle in a haystack.
But, we were fortunate that a kind-hearted person in Corpus Christi agreed to help us. She picked up Marley from the shelter, and agreed to foster him until we were able to arrange an emergency transport to Wisconsin
Marley is with our rescue here in Wisconsin now, and will be having surgery done on his broken leg in a few days.
(We work with an amazing Board Certified Orthopedic Veterinary surgeon who—we are hoping and praying—will be able to save Marley’s leg. Although amputation is easier and less expensive, we are firm believers in saving a leg whenever possible. While “tripods” often do just fine, they often develop mobility problems later in life, and Marley is just three months old—so we couldn’t bear the thought of his having to get around on three legs for the rest of his life.)
Marley’s x-rays, orhopedic evaluation, and surgery will run close to $4000.
And, although our little rescue’s piggy bank is close to empty, we have made the “leap” and are hoping to sprout wings on our way down.
We are praying that people like you will help us by making a tax deductible donation to help us pay for Marley’s veterinary expenses.
